Halii Kai Ocean Club.
Lunch service begins at 11:30. At
various times throughout the year, the club offers a continental breakfast beginning at 6:30am. Our menu favorites include:
Chicken Katsu, Ahi Poke, Quesadillas, Cheeseburger. We always order a Mai Tai, Corona, Glass of Wine, Pina Colada with
our meal--full bar service is also available. Dinner service is usually until sunset or shortly thereafter. Check the
club concierge for exact hours.
Kamuela
Provision Company. This is
at the Hilton Hotel next door. Ocean cliff-side sunset dining for dinner. Wonderful assortment of food and the vodka
martinis are "plentiful" although ask about the drink prices before you order as we have observed quite a "variety"
of pricings depending on who you ask.
Kirin. Also next door at the Hilton. We prefer to go there for Chinese
Dim Sum Lunch as it is a wonderful value then and a fabulous selection of dim sum. Hawaii Calls. This is the restaurant at the Marriott, close
by. They often have early bird sunset meals generally from 5-6pm or 6-7pm. Call them in advance to find out. The early
bird meal includes a choice of starter, entree and dessert for $35. Nice sunset views.
Merrimans Market Cafe. At the Kings Shops nearby. Try to get a table on the patio, a wide assortment
of items, our favorite is the pasta. A good place to lounge for lunch while you shop. Although we have heard that Merrimans
upcountry in Waimea (25 min drive) is really fabulous.
Waikoloa Kings Golf Club. They only serve breakfast and lunch. We believe this is the best breakfast on the island and at a good value
too! Remember our golf membership and play a round while you are there for significantly reduced rates.
Waikoloa Beach Grille. An excellent
choice especially for dinner with their new tapas style menu. Great desserts too.
Queens Shops Court. The newly opened Waikoloa Queens Shops has a great food court that isn't your typical "mall"
type of food court. Inside you will find several restaurants serving Hawaiian mixed plates (beef, chicken, katsu, mac,
rice) as well as a noodle house, in addition to several well known chains (dairy queen, subway, arbys). Why not carry
out a meal and eat it on the lanai of your villa?
Canoe
House. Located at the Mauna Lani
Bay Hotel. This ocean side dining experience cannot be missed. Plan one nice evening here. Please see attached pictures of
this fine restaurant. Plan on spending approx. $60/person including a beverage.
Tommy Bahama Cafe. We thought it would be "touristy" but found this place to be a refreshing
change. Nice sunset views and shopping downstairs. Located at the Shops at Mauna Lani. This may be the liveliest bar
on the coast after hours. From 4-6 (approximately) they offer special prices on food and beverages at the bar.
| | | | Pahuia.
At the Four Seasons Hualalai, south
of Waikoloa approximately 10 miles. This is truly a "splurge" meal that you will remember forever. Ocean
side dining in typical Four Seasons excellent service fashion. Afterwards, or in lieu of Pahuia, head upstairs to the Lava
Lounge for live entertainment by award winning artists.
Kona Village Resort. If you are interested in seeing a bit of true "Tahiti" head on
down to Hualalai to the Kona Village Resort and try one of their two restaurants. The atmosphere cannot be beat. Just
make sure you call ahead for a reservation or the gate agent may not let you in. Lunch also served buffet style. |
